A consistent spell of rain in the second innings forced a washout in Durban, as Lions and Dolphins shared two points each, keeping them tied at the top of the table.
Lions, having been inserted, were pegged back early, as they lost three quick wickets to fall to 45 for 3 in the 17th over. Neil McKenzie and Jean Symes, however, waged a counterattack with an unbroken 188-run stand at 6.55 runs perv over which took the team to 233, as the game was reduced to 45 overs per side. McKenzie took 87 deliveries to reach his half-century, but blazed the next 50 runs in just 23 balls, as he thumped nine fours and two sixes to collect his 11th List-A hundred. He received ample support at the other end from Symes, whose 97 not out included 12 fours and two sixes.
A light shower two deliveries into Dolphins' chase briefly forced the players off the field. Play eventually resumed, with the target revised to 228 off 42 overs, but only four more balls were possible, as another bout of rain forced a premature end to the game.
