that will be that! A comprehensive seven-wicket win for the Scorchers and they have done so at an absolute canter! Short and wide outside off. Turner eases it out to deep cover point and consigns the Stars to their second defeat in as many games this season!
Stars vs Scorchers, 7th Match at Melbourne, BBL 2023, Dec 13 2023 - Match Result
Scorchers won by 7 wickets (with 37 balls remaining)
10:10pm That brings us to the end of our coverage. Hope you enjoyed it as much as we loved bringing it to you. The BBL takes a bit of a break over the next few days, with action resuming on December 19. There is plenty of cricket elsewhere to gorge into, though, with a whole host of international matches scheduled for tomorrow. Until then, this is me (Shashwat) signing off on behalf of M Venkat Raghav and everyone else at ESPNcricinfo. Goodbye, goodnight and take care!
Hamish McKenzie is the Player of the Match for his spell of 4-0-12-2: It is pretty surreal (to get the Player of the Match award). Don't really have any words. The whole week has been a dream come true. Nice cherry on top. It was awesome (bowling from the Shane Warne end).
10pm A thoroughly one-sided game, which is down to how accomplished an outfit the Scorchers are, and how ordinary the Stars were tonight. Chasing 102 was never going to be a tough ask and when Connolly and Eskinazi raced out of the traps, the writing was on the wall for the Stars. Hardie, Inglis and Turner also played useful cameos, ensuring that there were no hiccups.
Coming back to the Stars, they just did not get the early wickets that might have set the cat among the pigeons. Rauf bowled a little all over the place, as did Stoinis. Usama Mir did a decent job but as cliché as it might sound, he just did not have enough runs to work with.
The Stars, thus, have plenty to ponder, and they will have lots of time to do so, with their next game only taking place on December 23. The Scorchers, on the other hand, play next on December 20 - against the Hobart Hurricanes.

floated up full outside off. Turner reaches out for it and drags it on the bounce to long on, who does well to parry it into play and then cut it off

googly on a back of a length on middle and leg. Turner hangs back and cuts it towards backward point
Just 12 more needed now. How many balls do the Scorchers need to get there?
