A hard-hitting batsman hailing from the Transvaal in South Africa, Lizelle Lee began her international career as an opener, but has since settled in the middle of the order of the Women Proteas line-up.
After graduating from high school, Lee studied education at North West University, representing North West in South Africa's provincial competitions, where she developed a reputation as a destructive batting force, once hitting a staggering 169 not out off just 84 balls against Mpumalanga in a provincial T20 match.
Lee made her international debut aged 21, and over the three years that followed, she quickly racked up over 60 international appearances, scoring eleven 50s and averaging 25 across all formats.
At the Women's World T20 in Bangladesh in 2014, against Pakistan, she shared the highest ever undefeated partnership in women's international T20 history - an unbroken opening-wicket stand of 163 with all-rounder Dane van Niekerk.
A close friend of England's Anya Shrubsole, Lee spent the summer of 2015 in England, playing alongside Shrubsole for Somerset in Women's County Championship and Bath in the Southern Premier League; notably hitting a 60-ball century against Devon in the County Championship (before being struck by the curse of Nelson on 111); and averaging over 80 for Bath in the Premier League.
